Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs in Baku, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties discussed various issues, as well as the current situation and perspectives of the bilateral normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and regional developments.
They noted the importance of developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the US within the framework of historical relations and mutual interests.
Minister Bayramov informed the American side about the situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the negotiations on the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He recalled that Azerbaijan, as the initiator of the main elements of the peace process with Armenia, is an interested party in establishing peace and stability in the region.
The Azerbaijani side highlighted the importance of Armenia giving up the ongoing claims against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty in its constitution and legislative acts.
At the same time, it was stated that Armenia's militarization policy does not serve peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest as well.
