Elchin Amirbayov: Religious tolerance - distinctive feature of Azerbaijan

"Religious tolerance, which I define as mutual respect between representatives of different religious confessions and denominations, their harmonious and peaceful coexistence in our country, is a characteristic feature of Azerbaijan and a source of pride for all Azerbaijanis, regardless of their ethnic and religious background," Elchin Amirbayov, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan, said in an exclusive interview with writer and historian Carlo Marino for Faro di Rome and Eurasiaticanews, Report informs.

According to Amirbayov, Azerbaijan's geostrategic position at the intersection of East and West, and its ability to absorb and support the values of both civilizations, allows the country to play the role of a living bridge between different cultures and civilizations:

"Thanks to its rich experience in this field, Azerbaijan is easily accepted as a natural platform for intercultural and interreligious dialogue and interaction, which is much needed by both East and West. Baku is already recognized as a major international venue for all kinds of high-level events, including summits, global forums, and conferences aimed at promoting and deepening dialogue between different cultures and religions."

"I agree that this element enhances the synergy between Azerbaijan and the Holy See and can be an example for others. As a practical contribution to strengthening intercultural and interreligious dialogue, Azerbaijan has been engaged in various charitable activities for decades, financing the implementation of numerous projects aimed at preserving global cultural and religious heritage in different parts of the world," he added.
