The introduction of private veterinary medicine will lead to an increase in competitiveness in this area, said Melek Cakmak, Head of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization’s (FAO) Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Cakmak was speaking at an event dedicated to the switching to a private veterinary service, organized by the Agriculture Ministry.
She said that since 2015, with the opening of the FAO office in Azerbaijan, cooperation between FAO and Azerbaijan has expanded: “We cooperate with several structures in Azerbaijan. Our goal is to achieve stability in the agricultural sector.”
Cakmak noted that the Azerbaijani government attaches great importance to food security, competitiveness in the field of food safety: “Azerbaijan and FAO have already completed the framework document of the program covering 2016-2020. We are going to complete the framework document of the country’s program for 2021-2025. This program covers several areas of the framework document. The protection of the environment, the fight to achieve sustainable goals take an important place in the framework document.”
