A 5-year strategy and a 3-year action plan will be developed within the "Strengthening Agrarian Advisory Services" project between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the FAO Partnership and Coordination Office in Azerbaijan.
According to the report, the strategy to be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture will propose a new model using the best practices of the European Union, as well as adapted to the current conditions of the agricultural advisory service in our country: "Currently, this strategy and model is under discussion. Next year, two regions (Ganja-Gazakh and Guba-Khachmaz)will test the model. Based on the successful results, amending the strategic plan, a 3-year action plan will be submitted for the country.
FAO also announced the directions of projects implemented in Azerbaijan:
Increasing agrarian activity with the involvement of young farmers in agricultural activities in Azerbaijan, strengthening the economic potential of rural women, strengthening agrarian advisory services, improving the local food chain, improving the breed composition and feeding of animals in cattle breeding, developing of production and value chain in sheep breeding, development of disease-free potato seed and hazelnut production sector in the country, projects are implemented to reduce pesticide use in the agrarian sector."
