Kazakhstan is considering the issue of introducing temporary restrictions on the export of grain and flour to protect the domestic market, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev said, Report informs citing RIA Novosti.
“The issue of imposing restrictions on grain and flour exports is being worked out,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a government hour in the lower house of the Kazakh parliament.
He noted that this measure is related to the fact that local producers "do not want to sell grain to flour millers."
"The Russian Federation has imposed a ban on the export of grain, we know the situation, we are keeping it under control. Our balance of grain as of this morning is positive, and it will be positive. We have enough for the domestic market... there will still be left for export. At the level of average annual volumes. Exporters do not want to sell grain to the domestic market, they are waiting for the export price to rise," the minister explained.
"If we take exchange prices, we will see that everything is growing day by day," the minister said.
At the same time, Karashukeev didn’t name specific dates for the introduction of restrictions.
