Minister: Azerbaijan prepared action plan to support green agriculture

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has created an early warning system to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said at the opening of the Vision for the Future: Transition to Digital Agriculture International Conference, Report informs.

“We are working on this in close coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture. A joint action plan has already been prepared to support green agriculture,” Babayev said.

He noted that the liberation of lands from occupation has become a new stage in the development of this sector: “The 30-year occupation of our lands by Armenia has had an extremely negative impact on the ecosystem of this region. Azerbaijan plans to restore forests in the region. This is aimed at preventing climate change and land degradation. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is our long-term partner. This cooperation has led to noticeable changes in the field of improving the living conditions of people.”
