EBRD President visits Alley of Martyrs

The delegation, led by the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, visited the Alley of Martyrs and paid tribute to the memory of heroes who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The EBRD delegation also got acquainted with Icherisheher (Old City).

The Minister of Economy, MIkayil Jabbarov, met with the EBRD delegation. The meeting noted that the Bank had invested nearly 3.7 billion euros in Azerbaijan’s economy on 181 projects.

The sides also discussed renewable energy, support to small and medium businesses, cooperation with state bodies, improvement of the business environment and IT ecosystem, and EBRD’s participation in the projects in the liberated territories.

Moreover, the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) under the Azerbaijan Investment Holding and the EBRD signed a mandate letter. The letter was signed by Nandita Parshad, the Managing Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Group at EBRD, Ruslan Alikhanov, Chief Executive Director of Azerbaijan Investment Holding, and ASCO Chairman Rauf Valiyev. According to the document, the EBRD is supposed to allocate a large-scale loan without a state guarantee for the financing of the fleet renewal projects of Caspian Sea Shipping.
