Pakistan hopes that Azerbaijan will become a hub for the supply of Pakistani rice and other agricultural products, chairman of the Global Business Alliance and CEO of Belt and Road Consultants Pvt Ltd Muhammad Asif Noor told Report.
“With this business delegation [recent Pakistani business delegation to Azerbaijan], we have made the market survey and realized that Azerbaijan is an important market for rice. With high demand and resolving the issues of transport, we hope that Azerbaijan may become the hub of Pakistan’s rice and other agricultural products,” he said.
He noted that now is the right time for Pakistani rice producers and exporters to come to Azerbaijan.
He also added that Pakistan is one of the largest rice producers in the world. As rice is not a staple food for the people of Pakistan, more than 60 percent of the rice has been used to export to other countries of the world. According to the latest figures, Pakistan exports 4 million tons of rice globally with diversified markets.
