The UN is ready to support Azerbaijan to further strengthen its position in the Sustainable Development Report, Vladanka Andreeva, head of the UN Mission in Azerbaijan, said at the event Azerbaijan in the Global SDG Index held in Baku.
"Azerbaijan ranked 50 among 163 countries with an increased score of 73.5 out of 100. The goal of the government and ours is related to the further improvement of Azerbaijan's position. Today's event was organized jointly with the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistical Committee. The main goal is to evaluate the overall results related to achieving Azerbaijan's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I would like to welcome the bold steps Azerbaijan took in attaining the goal set in accordance with the 2030 Agenda, the state programs, and the work done in this direction with decisions and decrees," she noted.
Andreeva also said that the main component of the 2030 Agenda is accurate information:
"Today, we discussed the challenges, the areas where there is a lack of information. We debated issues such as the support the UN can provide in connection with the collection of those data and the reflection of statistical data. Consequently, our main goal is to evaluate the achieved results accordingly.
"Areas with a lack of statistical data have been identified. Information on some directions was presented several years ago. We have set guidelines for updating data. UN agencies and government bodies must clarify some issues. Inquiries should be made in some areas."
