The upcoming COP29 conference in Azerbaijan will not only be a crucial event for the climate agenda but also for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva said, Report informs.
Speaking at a conference in Baku titled "For the Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan: Presentation of the Unified Platform and National Standard on Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG)," Andreeva emphasized that ESG standards may contribute companies to reduce their carbon emissions. "These standards also enable investments in sustainable supply chains, promote social and gender equality, and support transparency issues," she added.
Andreeva underlined the importance of the COP29 conference, stating, "This event will serve as a key platform not only for the climate agenda but also for the sustainable development agenda until 2030. The next few years are crucial for taking bold steps in the climate field, and we should make the most of this opportunity."
