Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry, in collaboration with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), has established the Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy in Central Asia (APRECA) program, Report informs.
The initiative was launched during the Investment Forum on Energy Transition in Central Asia, held as part of COP29) in Baku.
The primary objective of APRECA is to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy in the region and promote green industrialization.
The forum brought together ministers and deputy ministers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates. They discussed strategies to increase the utilization of renewable energy sources to meet the rising energy needs, ensure energy diversity, support economic growth, and attain climate objectives.
APRECA seeks to mobilize the potential of Central Asian countries by expanding investments through regional cooperation, strengthening inter-regional ties, and enhancing socio-economic benefits.
