As the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) approaches, Ivorian negotiators are diligently preparing for their participation in the crucial climate talks, set to take place from November 11 to 22 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Report informs via local media outlets that a training seminar was held in the city of Bonua to enhance the skills and knowledge of the Ivorian negotiating team. Eric-Michel Assamoua, Director of the Department for the Fight Against Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment of Côte d'Ivoire, stated that the country's priorities at the Baku conference will include establishment of a loss and damage fund, strengthening mobilization and access to climate finance, promoting South-South and North-South cooperation, ensuring access to climate technologies for all countries.
Assamoua urged the negotiators to pay special attention to issues of mitigation, adaptation, market mechanisms, and transparency.
