Azerbaijan's goal is to create an effective regulatory system covering environmental initiatives in close cooperation with aviation organizations, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Elmin Mammadov said during a high-level panel discussion "International Aviation and Climate Change" at COP29, Report informs.
According to Elmin Mammadov, Azerbaijan is a committed partner to the Paris Climate Agreement.
"As a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), we are committed to fulfilling our obligations, especially environmental ones, in accordance with international standards, requirements, and initiatives. We are actively developing and strengthening our aviation framework to form effective policies, focusing on environmental sustainability and responsibility. Our goal is to create an effective regulatory system covering both short-term and long-term environmental initiatives at global and regional levels in close cooperation with aviation organizations. We are committed to reducing carbon emissions and the impact of international aviation on climate change," he noted.
