The State Energy Service of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has launched a new initiative to promote alternative and renewable energy sources in the region.

According to Report, within the framework of this project implemented by the state service, the Green Energy Volunteers have been created.

The Green Energy Volunteers were formed based on the recommendation given by COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev during his visit to Nakhchivan.

The creation of Green Energy Volunteers was announced at a forum during the Business Tour organized for Latvian, Estonian and Finnish companies within the framework of the Caspian Energy Club LEF Network Azerbaijan project in the autonomous republic.

The main goal of the project is to convey the possibilities and benefits of green energy to the general public in Nakhchivan, especially to strengthen awareness-raising activities among young people regarding environmental protection.

The volunteer group will play an active role in the application of renewable energy technologies and conducting training and info sessions in the field of green energy. Startup projects will also be presented by volunteers.

As part of the project, volunteers will organize seminars, trainings, and public events.

Volunteers will also encourage the population to save energy and use renewable energy sources. In the first stage of the project, a volunteer group will be formed and involved in training. English language courses will also be organized for volunteers. In the future, it is planned to increase the number of volunteers.

In a statement to Report's, an official of the State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic noted that this initiative aims to raise a generation that prioritizes environmental protection: "We believe that young people will play a key role in shaping the future of green energy solutions."
