Minister: Azerbaijan committed to environmental sustainability

Azerbaijan is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 and ensuring environmental sustainability, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said at a ministerial roundtable on "Sustainable, Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond" within COP29, Report informs.

"We pay great attention to sustainability while advancing our plans to expand the Middle Corridor. Our railway system prioritizes the use of modern electric locomotives for both passenger and freight transportation. We plan to modernize existing railway lines and locomotives, install solar panels and environmentally friendly energy sources. The Baku port received EcoPorts certification from the European Sea Ports Organisation in 2022. Starting from 2025, we plan to further expand the use of alternative energy sources."
