COP29 creates a truly democratic space for 10,000 NGO representatives from around the world and civil society in general, Aygun Aliyeva, Executive Director of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of Azerbaijan, said at an event titled "Developing Climate Action through Global South Cooperation: The Role of NGOs," Report informs.
She noted that the event, attended by NGO representatives from various countries, reflects Azerbaijan's priorities and ensures active participation of peoples most vulnerable to climate impacts in shaping climate solutions.
"The involvement of NGOs from these regions in this process emphasizes the essence of Global South cooperation. We must remember the important role of NGOs in climate action. They are an important bridge between policy and people. Today, we support their tireless efforts. Real progress on climate cannot be achieved without them," she said.
