Developed countries should at least double the existing climate financing target of $100 billion, Slovenia's Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer told Report.
The minister noted that more ambitious steps need to be taken in fighting climate change and expanding funding sources.
He said $100 billion would not suffice and the goal should be to increase this number at least twofold.
But even such an increase won't satisfy everyone, Kumer said, adding that financing should include both direct and indirect funding.
Kumer also drew attention to Slovenia's climate activities. He added that his country increased climate financing by 40% last year.
He emphasized that Slovenia is pursuing an active policy on decarbonization and expanding the use of renewable energy sources.
According to him, the measures taken by Slovenia serve to form a climate-resilient development model and can serve as an example for other countries.
