The Baku Declaration on Water Resources Management, which is expected to be adopted today, will become an important impetus towards COP30, Jason Morrison, president of the Pacific Institute and head of the UN Global Compact, told Report.
Morrison called the progress in climate litigation insufficient and emphasized that the lack of ambition was to blame.
He noted that people are increasingly beginning to realize the importance of climate adaptation.
Water and climate adaptation topics will remain among the main ones at this and the next COP, Morrison said.
"The Baku Declaration will be an important document. I hope it will help strengthen our positions. The declaration will be presented today and will become an impetus towards COP30 in Brazil," he said.
Morrison added that the declaration will play an important role at the global level, and issues of sustainability and adaptation will be among the priority topics on the global agenda in the upcoming period.
