At the COP29 climate conference, the United States' primary message is that the transition to clean energy and the fight against climate change will continue, regardless of who leads the White House, US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said during a press conference on Friday, in response to a question from Report.
Granholm emphasized that the energy transition in the United States is being carried out at the subnational level, with the involvement of the private sector and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). She stated that a change in leadership at the White House does not affect the energy transition.
Granholm addressed the countries that cite the United States' abandonment of climate policy as a reason to step back saying that this is not the case.
The US Energy Secretary urged nations to accelerate their efforts to fill any potential gaps in climate action. She stressed that the transition period has already begun, and there is no turning back.
