The United States highly appreciates Azerbaijan's chairmanship efforts at COP29 in maintaining water resources issues on the political agenda and promoting dialogue in this regard, US Acting Deputy Secretary of Interior Laura Daniel-Davis told a COP29 event "Celebrating Water's Lifeline for Climate, Nature, and People" held in Baku, Report informs.
Daniel-Davis emphasized that the US has important documents supporting all governmental efforts and bilateral initiatives aimed at defining water priorities: "Among these documents, the Global Water Strategy, adopted in 2017 and updated by the Biden administration in 2022, and the White House Action Plan on Global Water Security, presented in 2022, are particularly significant."
Regarding the 2023 UN Water Conference, Daniel-Davis noted that this event became an important turning point in addressing water issues: "For the first time in 40 years, water problems and their solutions were widely discussed on a global scale. The US highly values the continuation of this process under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, maintaining water issues at a high level on the political agenda, and promoting this dialogue as an initiative."
