The 16th International Baku Jazz Festival will take place on September 10-18, 2021, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
This year's Baku Jazz Festival, held after a two-year break, is dedicated to the memory of the heroic martyrs of Azerbaijan, as well as the spirit of jazz music, which does not bend under the weight of difficult times.
Baku Jazz Festival will also be held under quarantine rules due to the current epidemiological situation. Despite all the challenges, the Baku Jazz Festival remains at the international level and will be organized to the highest standards, bringing together the best musicians from around the world.
The festival concerts will be held at the Beer Hall and Music Club and Art Tower Gallery, and the gala concert - on September 18 at the Shahdag Night Club.
The festival will be attended by groups from the Netherlands, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, Israel, Germany, Luxembourg, and Georgia. Azerbaijani jazz musicians - Honored Artists Rain Sultanov, Isfar Sarabski, musicians Elbay Mammadzade, Elvin Bashirov, Diana Hajiyeva, Afgan Rasul, Nijat Aslanov, and others will perform at the festival together with their foreign colleagues.
The Baku Jazz Festival pays special attention to the competition of jazz performers. The contest has been traditionally held for many years and has already brought up a generation of talented musicians. This year's festival will also feature a competition for young talents.
On September 10, Azerbaijani artists Huseyn Hagverdiyev, Bahram Khalilov, Rustam Huseynov, Arif Guluzade will present the project "Improvised by Industry" within the festival. On September 17, designer Leyla Ahmadova will introduce an entirely new collection on jazz.
On September 11 and 12, the Art Tower Gallery will host a jazz-cinema program - a screening of legendary movies of the last century.
This year, master classes and jam-sessions will be organized as an integral part of the show.
Baku Jazz Festival was last held on October 18-27, 2019, under the slogan "More jazz, more intellect."
