The selection of Shusha as the Capital of Culture of the Turkic World in 2023 is a historic step, Head of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva told Report.
"Shusha deserves it. Shusha has been waiting for this for a long time," the head of the organization said, noting that various events will be held in the city for this significant event.
"People will finally see the atrocities committed during the 30-year Armenian occupation and the destroyed monuments. We plan to hold various events to declare Shusha the capital of the Turkic world. Today, Shusha is revived, and festivals and conferences take place in the city. For example, the Kharibulbul Festival, which was opened by President Ilham Aliyev last year, and the Vagif Poetry Days. I think we will hold them this year as well. Next year, a number of events will be held under the auspices of international organizations such as the Organization of Turkish States, TurkPA, TURKSOY," Afandiyeva stressed.
