Azerkhalcha has presented its products at the Azerbaijani national evening "Azerbaijani carpets on the Caspian shore" in Moscow.
Report's Russian bureau informs that the event was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Moscow, the Azerbaijani Trade Mission in Russia, Azerkhalcha OJSC, and the 'Details' National School of Design.
Fifty-six handmade Azerbaijani carpets were presented at the event.
Opening the evening, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu noted that the countries are linked by inseparable cultural ties. "The carpet is an Azerbaijani national treasure. For centuries, carpets have been woven by Azerbaijani women over a vast territory from Persia to the Caucasus. Azerbaijani carpets occupy a worthy place in the most prominent museums in the world: from the Albert and Victoria Museum in London to private collections," the ambassador added.
Chairman of the Board of Azerkhalcha OJSC, the Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan Emin Mammadov, spoke about the history of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan, about state support for the development of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan. He recalled that on the initiative of the First Vice President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, the Azerbaijani carpet was included in the representative list of UNESCO on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: "And we at Azerkhalcha are trying not to lose the traditions of classical carpet-weaving and introduce new directions. Based on ancient carpets, we attract conceptual artists to create modern carpets with a new design based on traditional carpets."
As part of the event, the creative director of Azerkhalcha OJSC, Asmar Abdullayeva, held a presentation of carpets entitled "New life of Azerbaijani carpets." A master class was organized to explain the process of weaving Azerbaijani carpets. After the official part of the event, the guests were offered dishes of Azerbaijani national cuisine, and a presentation of national wines took place.
