The film is about Vitaly Pronin, the last inhabitant of the Kurdili island. In 1981, due to rising water levels in the Caspian Sea, Kurdili, once a bustling island, became uninhabitable. Most of the population moved from the island. Deprived of gas, electricity, and almost uninhabited, the island became deserted, its nature and animals became wild, and homes collapsed. No one lived there anymore... Except for 68-year-old Vitaly… He was breathing with the island. He took his last breath on the isle… Right in front of the camera.
The film was previously screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the Flaertiana International Film Festival in Perm, Russia, the 6th Eurasia.Doc Festival, the 15th Jahorina International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BlackCanvas International Contemporary Film Festival in Mexico and was awarded various prizes.
The next competition for the film will be held in Poland. The 25th International Documentary Film Festival will be held in Poznan, Poland, on October 19-24.
