Azerbaijan is ready to further assist TURKSOY in promoting the unity of Turkic cultures, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said at the opening of an extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY in Bursa, Report's correspondent dispatched to Bursa said.
The minister congratulated the selection of Bursa as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2022 and expressed confidence that a number of events planned to be held in this regard would contribute to the development of cultural cooperation between the Turkic countries.
Anar Karimov recalled that since 2009, TURKSOY has been carrying out activities aimed at promoting Turkic heritage.
TURKSOY declared 2017 the year of Molla Panah Vagif and held a series of events in this regard, in 2018 it dedicated events to the outstanding Azerbaijani composer, Gara Garayev, 2019 was declared the Year of Imadaddin Nasimi, and this year TURKSOY will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Azerbaijani composer Fikrat Amirov.
According to the minister, despite the conflicts taking place in the world, the Turkic countries unite to show the unity and strength of culture.
