"Unfortunately, in some countries, prominent personalities and works of art belonging to Azerbaijan are deliberately presented as either Persian or Armenian," Culture Minister Anar Karimov said commenting on the presentation of Nizami Ganjavi as a Persian poet at the US Metropolitan Museum.
"For years, there has been a big campaign against us. We regularly try to inform our partners and cultural institutions abroad to this end. It is important to raise awareness. We must show the world that Nizami Ganjavi, Fuzuli and our carpets belong to the Azerbaijani people. This is a long and tedious work, but we must do it. Otherwise, there are many other facts of misappropriations. We are determined to prevent such cases of misappropriation," the minister said.
