Azerbaijani diaspora organizations have released statements expressing their discontent with the Netherlands government's biased stance, State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan told Report.
The Dutch government presented its program for the current term on September 13, where the liberation of Azerbaijani territories was mentioned as the "seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh" in the International Security section covering escalating conflicts.
In response, several prominent Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in the Netherlands, including the Netherlands-Belgium Azerbaijani Coordination Council, Ana Vatan (Motherland) Azerbaijani Women's Union of the Netherlands, The Dutch Azerbaijani-Turkish Cultural Association, Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress, International Azerbaijani Ladies Club, and Azerbaijan-Netherlands Odlar Yurdu (Land of Fires) Society, issued statements condemning the Dutch Government's prejudiced position.
The statements emphasized that it is unacceptable to portray Azerbaijan's liberation of its own territories as a "seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh" and underlined that Azerbaijan's actions to restore its territorial integrity were fully in line with international law. They also firmly rejected the reference to the Karabakh region as "Nagorno-Karabakh", stressing that no such administrative or geographical unit exists in Azerbaijan.
The diaspora organizations called upon all states and organizations to refer to the standardized geographical names adopted by Azerbaijan's relevant bodies and the UN Group of Experts on Geographical Names when addressing Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territories.
They urged the Netherlands government to maintain an objective and balanced approach and refrain from statements that could negatively impact relations with Azerbaijan.
