Azerbaijanis hold protest in front of UN office in Georgia

Representatives of the Azerbaijani community living in Georgia held a peaceful protest in front of the UN office in Georgia, Report informs.

The reason for the action is that the UN does not express any attitude towards the injustices committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan and is silent on all that is happening.

Murad Muradov, director of the Integration Center for Azerbaijanis in Georgia, said that representatives of the Azerbaijani community living in Georgia expressed their concerns about the issues affecting Azerbaijan and demanded a fair and balanced response from an influential organization like the UN to all matters that concern Azerbaijan.

According to a protestor, the UN should focus on the serious ecological damage caused by Armenia to the environment since natural resources were exploited in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions due to Armenian brutality, and as a result, the environment was seriously damaged. More than 60,000 hectares of forest stock have been destroyed, valuable woodlands have been depleted, and the rivers, part of the national heritage, are still being polluted, posing a serious threat to local fauna.

One of the other urgent issues is the contamination of the liberated territories with mines. So, after the end of the conflict in 2020, the number of mine victims in Azerbaijan exceeded 303 people. Contamination of land with mines not only endangers people's lives but also prevents citizens from returning to their ancestral lands.

Disturbing evidence of the mistreatment of Azerbaijani soldiers in the Armenian mass media and the silence of the UN, like other international organizations, were among the opinions voiced during the action.

The participants of the action called on the international community and relevant organizations to conduct comprehensive investigations into the environmental destruction, placement of mines, and cruelty against Azerbaijani soldiers by Armenia.
