General Prosecutor's Office: Citizens of Russia, Georgia, and Iran were also among mercenaries who fought on Armenian side

Among the mercenaries who fought on the side of Armenia in the Second Karabakh War, there were also the citizens of Russia, Georgia, and Iran, Ilgar Safarov, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General for Special Assignments, said at a round table on the 2nd anniversary of the Ganja terror committed by Armenians on October 11, 2020.

He said that since war crimes were committed on the territory of Azerbaijan during the Patriotic War, criminal cases have been launched against those who committed them under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and the culprits will be brought to justice.

Safarov said that some of the mercenaries who fought on the side of Armenia during the war had been identified, and criminal proceedings had been initiated against them.

He said that within the framework of the criminal case under investigation, both the open terrorist calls of the Armenian military and political leadership on social networks and the statements related to terrorism were recorded by the relevant bodies of Azerbaijan.
