Khojaly Airport, which is the fourth airport in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, Azerbaijan is of great strategic importance for the country, especially for the region, Narmin Khalilova, the head of the press service of the airports, told Report.
Khalilova stated that the area of Khojaly airport, which is 575 meters above sea level, is 188.5 hectares.
"Currently, the airport has one runway 2,170 meters long and 45 meters wide, two taxiways, one apron and one terminal. There are a total of three parking spaces for aircraft in the area of the apron," she added.
Khalilova also pointed out that improvement work is planned to develop the infrastructure of Khojaly Airport.
She highlighted: "The length of the existing runway will be extended to 3,000 meters, and the width will be expanded to 60 meters. Optimization of the airport territory will be carried out, and the total area is planned to be 177.27 hectares, and the apron area is 47,000 square meters. All the work to be done will be carried out in accordance with international norms and standards, and the airport will be brought to the most modern level."
According to Khalilova, the work is aimed at ensuring a high level of service and security. This will further contribute to the development of the region, its integration into the global economy, as well as the strengthening of regional relations.
