Sabina Aliyeva: Armenian ombudsman never visited our hostages in his country

"The trial has been held in public. The accused were provided with both a lawyer and an interpreter. That is, their rights have been guaranteed," Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsperson) Sabina Aliyeva told journalists at the Yasamal District Court after the preliminary hearing on the criminal case of Armenian militants Mkrtchyan Ludwig Mkrtichovich and Khosrovyan Alyosha Aramaisovich, who tortured Azerbaijani prisoners of war and committed other crimes during the First Karabakh War, Report informs.

"I would like to emphasize that the Armenian ombudsman never visited our hostages in Armenia and never wondered about their condition, medical care, and nutrition. For about six years, two of our compatriots were held hostage there. During this time, he was not even interested in their condition. On the contrary, the Armenian ombudsman was engaged only in political speeches, utterly contrary to the institute's philosophy," she added.
