20 districts most sensitive to climate changes to be determined in Azerbaijan

It is planned to improve the existing legislation on climate change and prepare new legal documents, Zaur Aliyev, the manager of the National Adaptation Plan Support Project of the Azerbaijan representative office of UNDP, said during his speech at the international conference on 'Caspian Sea level fluctuations in climate change, forecasts, and adaptation measures'.

"Equipment to collect and share climate change data will be purchased to support the government. It is also planned to create a local expert roster on climate change. In addition, 20 districts most sensitive to climate changes will be determined in Azerbaijan," he added.

The project manager added that a sensitivity index might be created:

"A charter of the Adaptation Working Group is being considered. At the same time, in order to involve the private sector in climate change activities, it is planned to organize a domestic forum of private landlords on climate change by the end of the year."
