As a result of inspections carried out in the Central Botanical Garden by the Department of Internal Control and Audit at the instruction of the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, a number of law offenses were found in the institution, Report informs, citing acting general director of the Central Botanical Garden Natiq Allahverdiyev.
According to him, the former leadership did not show any initiative for planting new trees, there was no agrotechnical care, due to the improper organization of the irrigation system, the drying process of most of the trees accelerated.
The funds allocated from the state budget for the development and formation of the Botanical Garden have been pocketed. In addition, the garden was used for personal needs with two illegal houses built on the territory belonging to the structure. Currently, an appeal has been filed for the demolition of these structures.
Allahverdiyev noted that the law offenses, shortcomings and misappropriations revealed as a result of the inspections are indicated in the drawn up document. If necessary, this document can be made public.
