Important decisions made by the Azerbaijani leadership regarding the restoration of Karabakh and East Zangazur, particularly concerning the greening of the regional economy, create opportunities to reduce the impacts of climate change, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rauf Hajiyev told a roundtable on "Intellectual Property and Innovations for a Green Future" (Towards COP29), Report informs.
Hajiyev emphasized that environmental protection is a priority in the large-scale restoration and reconstruction process being carried out in the liberated territories:
"Innovative approaches such as smart cities and smart villages are being implemented in those territories, and the ecosystem is being restored. As part of the green growth concept, policies are being implemented to transform the liberated territories into a green energy zone and achieve carbon neutrality targets."
