Pollution of Okhchuchay discussed at meeting of working group on environmental issues

The working group on environmental issues of the Interdepartmental Center under the Coordination Headquarters established for addressing the issues in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan in a centralized manner held a meeting in the "Smart Village", built on the territory of the village of Aghali, Zangilan district, Report informs.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant state structures represented in the working group, as well as the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Zangilan, which is part of the East Zangazur economic region.

During the meeting, issues of organizing activities planned for the restoration, reconstruction, sustainable development of the territories in Zangilan and the return of the population were discussed.

The discussions emphasized the need to identify the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan as the leading structure for preventing transboundary pollution of Okhchuchay, restoring the ecosystem, improving water quality, and preparing relevant proposals, as well as conducting comprehensive research work in the Okhchuchay basin.
