Today an event in support of biodiversity took place on the shores of the Caspian Sea, Report informs, citing the "Biodiversity" Startup.
Volunteers from the "Biodiversity" Startup cleared several kilometers of the coastline from garbage left behind by tourists. They collected several bags of waste. After sorting the materials into glass, plastic, and solid household waste, some of the waste was sent for local recycling, while the rest was disposed of properly. The initiators of the action believe that the ecology of the sea begins on the shore.
"Our Startup is focused on preserving biodiversity. We organized a project to clean up local water bodies from pollution and collect and recycle waste. We want to draw the attention of all residents of Baku and our community to the ecological problems and issues of biodiversity. We believe that we need to preserve the wilderness and beauty of our region. We need to show, not just with words but with our own actions, that the beauty of nature depends on humans. We hope that everyone will be more responsible in regards to the environment, in our case the cleanliness of the beaches and the Caspian Sea, says Siddiga Suleymanzade, co-founder of the "Biodiversity" Startup.
The goal of the action, which involved a group of schoolchildren and students, is not only to clean the seaside from plastic bottles and other domestic waste, but also to urge people to keep the sea beaches clean and protest against the pollution of the Caspian Sea. The "Biodiversity" startup aims to support biological diversity, create favorable conditions for local flora and fauna, and protect the local environment.
