ADB ready to support development of renewable energy in Karabakh

Asian Development Bank is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development of renewable energy in the liberated areas of Azerbaijan, Asian Development Bank Country Director for Azerbaijan Candice McDeigan told Report.

"But absolutely, when those needs are identified, when we are able to understand the master sector plan for energy development in those regions and based on the request of the government of Azerbaijan to ADB, we would, of course, be committed to providing the government support for its development whether it is Karabakh or anywhere else within the country," she said.

"Asian Development Bank is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan. It is too early to determine the renewable energy needs of the liberated areas. We have had an opportunity to start discussions with the government about those needs.

"But it will take some time before we understand exactly what the energy needs of that region will be. There are many priorities for the government such as demining, to ensure the safe return of IDPs back to that region," McDeigan noted.
