In January-August this year, Azerbaijan exported 7.521 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey, which is 24.5% more than the equivalent period of 2019, Report says, citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
Azerbaijan's share in the Turkish gas market increased from 20.3% to 26% over the same period.
During the reporting period, the total amount of gas imported by Turkey decreased by 2.5% year on year to 28.952 billion cubic meters.
In the first eight months of this year, Turkey imported 6.856 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia (35.4% less than a year earlier) and 3.098 billion cubic meters (31.4% less) from Iran. The market share of these countries was 23.7% and 10.7%, respectively.
In August this year, Turkey imported 986 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan. This figure is 34.2% higher than in August 2019. Azerbaijan took second place in Turkey's total gas imports, giving Russia a leading position, and its market share was 29.4%. Russia is in first with 1.37 billion cubic meters (5.5% less than a year earlier), and Iran is in third with 406 million cubic meters (2.5 times more).
