Azerbaijan saw double growth in income from polyethylene exports last year

In 2021, Azerbaijan exported primary form polyethylene (of special weight less than 0.94) for $95.8 million, Report informs referring to the January issue of the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications.

According to the report, this is an increase of $49.4 million, or 2.1 times, compared to 2020.

Polyethylene and polypropylene are produced at the SOCAR Polymer plant in Azerbaijan. The SOCAR Polymer project includes plants for the production of polypropylene with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and the production of high-density polyethylene with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons. The opening of the polypropylene plant took place on July 18, 2018 with the participation of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Italy, Ilham Aliyev and Sergio Mattarella.
