Bulgaria is preparing to buy about 225 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan by the end of September, Report informs, citing Bulgarian media.
Due to the Bulgarian-Greek Interconnector (IGB) delays, Azerbaijani gas will be transported in the amount of 3 billion cubic meters per year via the Kula-Sidirocastro line with a capacity of 3.68 billion cubic meters at the Greek border.
Transportation of Azerbaijani gas through this route is temporary and will last for nine months until the end of the 2020 gas year. The volume to be supplied for this period will be about 225 million cubic meters.
The IGB connection will be launched in October 2021. Azerbaijani gas will continue in this way in the agreed volume.
Bulgaria has supplied 1 billion cubic meters of gas a year under an agreement between Bulgargaz and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
