European Council head presented with project to produce ‘green’ hydrogen

As part of the official visit of President of the European Council Charles Michel to Kazakhstan, an investment agreement was signed within the project “Creation of a center for the production and distribution of renewable energy and green hydrogen,” Report informs citing Kazakh media.

The document was signed between the government of Kazakhstan and Hyrasia one.

The center will be located in the Mangistau region of the country.

At the Akorda residence, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the head of the European Council were presented with a project to create a center.

The investor of the project is Svevind Group, which plans to organize the production of ‘green’ hydrogen with a capacity of 2 million tons annually.

The project involves construction and operation of a desalination plant with capacity of 255,000 cubic meters per day, a 40 GW renewable energy station (wind, solar) and a 20 GW water electrolysis production, mainly for export or domestic consumption.

In addition, it is planned to build infrastructure at the expense of the investor and pay social obligations for the socio-economic development of the region.

Charles Michel arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan to participate in the first summit of the leaders of Central Asia and the European Union.
