Head of Poland’s Orlen says oil supplies from Russia stopped

Russia has stopped pipeline oil supplies to Poland, Head of PKN Orlen Daniel Obajtek tweeted, Report informs.

“We effectively ensure the supply of raw materials. Russia has stopped oil supplies to Poland, for which we are fully prepared. Only 10% of raw materials came from Russia, and we will replace it with oil from other directions. This is the result of the diversification that we have carried out in recent years,” he wrote.

Earlier it was reported that PKN Orlen, after the expiration of the contract with Rosneft (3.6 million tons of oil per year), reduced the share of raw materials from the Russian Federation processed at its plants to 10%.

It was noted that, as part of the diversification strategy, Orlen is building its import portfolio based on oil supplies from the North Sea, West Africa, the Mediterranean basin, as well as the Persian and Mexican Gulfs. The company’s key partner is now Saudi Aramco, with which Orlen signed an agreement in November on the supply of oil “in an amount sufficient to cover the total demand of all the group’s refineries.”

At the moment, Orlen has only one valid contract for the supply of Russian oil - with Tatneft.

In addition, last week Transneft President Nikolai Tokarev said that the company had received an application from Poland to pump Kazakh oil through the Druzhba pipeline in the second quarter.
