Iran is ready to consider Belarus’ request on oil supplies, but Tehran hasn’t received it so far, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic to Belarus Saeed Yari said, Report informs, referring to Interfax.
"Iran has supplied several shipments of oil to Belarus, but there have been no such supplies over the past two or three years. At the moment, there is no request from Belarus for oil supplies. If there is an initiative of the Belarusian side and a request, we will certainly consider it," the diplomat said.
Yari stressed that he considers diversification in the oil sector to be a forward-looking and wise decision.
Due to disagreements with Russia in pricing in the first quarter of 2020, Belarus began an alternative import of tanker oil. Deliveries were made from Norway, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and the United States.
Oil is supplied by sea through ports in Klaipeda and Odesa. From the port in Odesa, delivery goes through the Odesa-Brody pipeline and then along one of the Druzhba oil trunk pipeline branches to the refinery in Mozyr. From the port in Klaipeda, oil is supplied by rail to the refinery in Navapolatsk.
