Rosatom may take part in tender for construction of third nuclear power plant in Türkiye

Rosatom may take part in the tender for the construction of a third nuclear power plant in Türkiye, the head of the state corporation Alexey Likhachev told reporters during a briefing following his speech in the State Duma, Report informs via TASS.

“There is another site in Türkiye, where the Turkish leadership also plans to develop nuclear energy. And several tenders may compete for it. We are not afraid of competition, on the contrary, it rather inspires us,” said the general director of Rosatom.

Speaking about the prospects for the construction of a nuclear power plant at the Sinop site, Likhachev noted that it could become a twin of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant currently under construction in Türkiye with four VVER-1200 generation 3+ power units. Discussions are currently underway regarding the future parameters of the possible station.
