Russian deputy PM talks on OPEC’s strategy over new strain of COVID

None of the OPEC+ members have yet proposed changing the strategy of the alliance in connection with the emergence of a new strain of COVID-19 ‘omicron’, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, Report informs referring to Prime agency.

He said that Russia doesn’t yet see the need to take urgent measures, the situation with the dynamics of global oil reserves is still normal.

Novak believes that now it is necessary to closely monitor the oil market and the impact of the omicron strain of coronavirus on demand.

Global oil prices fell 11-13% on November 26 night amid concerns over the South African strain of the coronavirus.

The strain of coronavirus B.1.1.529, which South Africa identified as the one of concern, received the Greek letter name Omicron, the World Health Organization reported earlier.
