SOCAR, Petrofac sign agreement on support services in Azerbaijan

SOCAR's subsidiary SOCAR Midstream Operations Limited and Petrofac's engineering and production services have signed a treaty to support the transfer of technical operations of the South Caucasus Pipeline.

Report informs as SOCAR takes over the technical operation of the South Caucasus Pipeline from BP, the new agreement provides support services for the transfer of operating assets. The work to be done in this context includes the maintenance of gas pipelines and other facilities during the transition process, and the provision of extensive routine support during the transition period, the implementation phase and the development of an operational readiness plan.

The South Caucasus Pipeline was built to export Sahdeniz natural gas from Azerbaijan to Georgia and Turkey. The pipeline starts at the Sangachal terminal near Baku, continues on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, and joins the gas distribution system in Turkey.

The South Caucasus Pipeline Company is responsible for the construction and operation of the pipeline. The company's shareholders are BP (28.8%), TPAO (19.0%), Azerbaijan / SOCAR (16.7%), PETRONAS (15.5%), LUKOIL (10.0%) and NICO (10.0%).
