President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to develop differentiated prices for oil products for transit transport and along the perimeter of the country's border.
"According to experts, in the autumn, there may be a shortage of diesel fuel in the country. This situation develops from year to year and every time during harvesting. The government's main argument is the washing out of fuel from our market by transit vehicles and residents of the border regions of neighboring countries," he said Thursday at an expanded cabinet meeting.
He noted that the problem is somewhat deeper since schemes have been organized and established over the years for exporting Kazakhstani oil products to nearby states.
"I instruct the government and the competition protection agency to develop differentiated prices for petroleum products for transit transport and along the border perimeter. This will reduce price disparity with neighboring countries and will not affect prices for our citizens," the president said.
