Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti.
Mikayil Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan cooperates effectively with various UN specialized agencies, several documents have been signed, and joint projects have been implemented. Recalling the signing of the Framework Document on Cooperation for Sustainable Development for 2021-2025 between the UN and the Government of Azerbaijan on March 1 this year, the Minister of Economy said that the document contributes to achieving socio-economic reforms, development goals in line with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The meeting focused on the measures taken by Azerbaijan to eliminate the adverse effects of the pandemic on the economy and praised the support of UNDP in this direction. UNDP conducted a survey to assess the impact of coronavirus on micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Azerbaijan in 2020-2021 and offered support for developing a competitive package for SMEs to eliminate the consequences of the pandemic and war.
UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti noted the fruitful cooperation of his organization with our country in some areas and said that UNDP plans to support the process of restoration work in the liberated territories.
The meeting discussed measures to reduce the negative effects of the pandemic, the work done to achieve the SDG, and other issues.
