The European Commission (EC) has prepared a new package of sanctions against Russia, which the Foreign Ministries of the EU member states might approve in a week, on December 12, Report informs via Radio Liberty.
The EC has already informed the EU countries about the ninth package of sanctions. It will cover the banking sector, the media and IT, in total, about 180 Russian companies.
Some EU member states have previously expressed dissatisfaction with the EC delaying further proposals for restrictions against Russia - the latest package of sanctions was adopted two months ago. Poland and the Baltic countries called for speeding up work on the next package.
Among their proposals are, in particular, a ban on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, in the technology sector, a ban on the export of all drones, including civilian ones, and a reduction in services. The list also included a ban on the import of diamonds from the Russian Federation and the sale of real estate to Russians.
