Finance Ministry: Turkiye aims to increase lira attractiveness

The Turkish government will continue to make the lira more attractive while adhering to a free market policy, reads the statement by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Turkiye, released on June 10 in Ankara, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

The ministry noted that the global upward trend in inflation rates recorded in the recent period affected Turkiye as well. At the same time, the fight against inflation remains a priority of the Turkish government’s macroeconomic policy.

The ministry reported that in the near future, the Turkish government will continue a targeted financial policy, while not deviating from the requirements of financial discipline.

“The goals of Turkiye’s financial policy remain supporting economic development, increasing employment and distributing the income of the population. Optimizing the system of public spending is associated with an increase in budget savings. Control over public spending will be strengthened, with the exception of primary items, which will increase the target result,” the statement says.
